for the Celebrations ...

St. Andrew's Day. The feast day of Saint Andrew. It is celebrated on 30th of November.
Saint Andrew is the patron saint of Scotland, and St. Andrew's Day is Scotland's official national day . In 2006, the Scottish Parliament designated the St. Andrew's Day as an official bank holiday. Although most commonly associated with Scotland, Saint Andrew is also the patron saint of Greece, Romania, and Russia.

Robert Burns Birthday. A gathering marking the birthday of beloved Scottish poet, Robert Burns. Complete with pipes and haggis, this event starts our year of activities.

Highland Games & Celtic Festival. We Sponsor the biggest event of the year, this festival will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2010. Pipe bands fill the air with music as athletes, dancers and pipers compete. Demonstrations show us the skills that were once part of everyday living.

Covered Dish Socials. Society members gather with their families and friends to socialize, enjoy great food & refreshments from society members.

for A Chance to Learn ...

We provide scholarships to individuals interested in studying various aspects of Scottish culture such as dance, bagpipes, Gaelic, etc.

for The History ...

The St. Andrew's Society of Tallahassee was founded in 1976 by a group of Scottish Americans and native Scots with an aim to "keep alive the memory of Scotland, her manners, literature, and games; to promote Scottish culture and heritage." And, like many other St. Andrews Societies, one of our goals is to perform good works, as reflected in our motto, "Relieve the Distressed."

We hope you like what you've read because we'd love to have you join us. We want members who are looking to be actively involved, to help us organize our many events, and members who just want to share their enthusiasm for Scottish culture with us. We hope to see you soon!
